When it comes to movies, it’s always a matter of taste. This is especially true of comedy films. However, here are ten comedies that most people seem to love.
This is because they received the highest rating on the large movie site IMDb’s (Internet Movie Database) list of the world’s best comedies. The top list is created according to the score that the site’s visitors give the films, which probably results in the largest film vote in the world, and we have only included the comedies that have received at least 500,000 votes, nor miss the list of the world’s best films in all categories.
10. Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, 1998
The little thieves Eddy, Tom, Soap, and Bacon owe porn king Harry a lot of money after a rigged card game. In order to pay off their debt, they rob another bunch of little crooks who live in the apartment next door.
9. Up, 2009

6. Snatch, 2000
Two years after Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, director Guy Ritchie released his second feature film about colorful wrestling in London. We get to follow a hunt for a stolen diamond and a boxing promoter who gets in trouble with a gangster. Maybe the two stories will be intertwined …
5. Amelie from Montmartre, 2001
The fifth best comedy in the world according to IMDb’s visitors is Amelie from Montmartre, or Amélie as it is only called in English. The film is a Franco-German production set in the Montmartre district of Paris. Here lives Amelie (Audrey Tautou), who anonymously enjoys improving people’s lives – or degrading them if it is well deserved.
4. Toy Story 3, 2010
In the third Toy Story movie, Andy begins college and his toys are sent to a preschool full of hard-nosed children and tricky toys. Cartoons hardly get any better than this.
3. Back to the Future, 1985
The third best comedy in the world according to IMDb’s visitors is this classic from the ’80s, in which Marty McFly goes back in time in a time machine built by his friend and mad scientist Emmet Brown. Once there, he must make sure his parents meet and fall in love so as not to change the future and their own existence.
2. The Intouchables, 2011
Philippe is the wealthy wheelchair-bound aristocrat who hires the tough suburban Driss as his personal assistant. Despite the friends’ objections, Phillipe trusts Driss and an unexpected and strong friendship develop. A warming French comedy, based on a true story.
1. Life is beautiful, 1997
The world’s best comedy, according to IMDb’s visitors, is the award-winning Italian drama-comedy Life is Wonderful, or La vita è Bella. The film is about Jewish Guido who lives a wonderful life with his wife and son in ’30s Italy. But when the Second World War breaks out, the family is sent to a concentration camp. To protect his family, Guido must do what he does best – to make life wonderful with imagination and humor. A heartbreaking comedy in a terrific environment.
