Far from everyone likes romantic comedies and many would argue that it is only for women and dates. However, this is far from true. Many romantic comedies are good movies that are good fun movies even if you are not fond of romantic elements.
There is a very long line of popular romantic comedies and there are a great many other films that deserve to be on this list almost as much as the films that made it to the list.

The film is about whether men and women can be just friends or whether it will always lead to something more or later. The two friends discuss their different views on sex. When Harry meets Sally, the first movie many people think of when they think of romantic comedies.
2: Four Weddings and a Funeral
Four Weddings and a Funeral is a romantic comedy starring Hugh Grant and Andie McDowell. The film is about how the two protagonists meet and fall in love with each other over a period of time that spans four weddings and a funeral. Of course, their relationship goes through a series of trials in the meantime. This is a film that most appeals to women. This could be said to be true for most romcoms but which is extra true in this movie as it contains extra much emotion and a little less comedy than most other romcoms.
3: High fidelity
High Fidelity is the first of two films starring John Cusack on our list. High Fidelity is based on a book by Nick Hornby and is about Rob Gordon who runs a record store and loves music but can’t understand women. Rob Gordon, therefore, starts meeting old girlfriends to see what he is doing wrong and what is stopping him from finding true love.
4: There’s Something About Mary
There is Something About Mary is a very funny and well-known romantic comedy. The film is about Mary played by Cameron Diaz. Mary is a woman that no man can avoid falling in love with. The film is about Mary and how all men in one way or another try to win her attention and love. The film contains several very famous scenes.
5: Grosse Pointe blank
Grosse Point Blank is a romantic comedy starring John Cusack, Minnie Driver, Alan Arkin, and Dan Aykroyd. John Cusack plays the lead role as an independent assassin who p.g.a. a job must return to its hometown and its high school reunion to complete a contract. Once there, he meets an old girlfriend and begins to question the choices he has made in life. Just as you would expect in a romantic comedy, love overcomes everything else in the end. Dan Aykroyd plays an excellent role as a competing assassin.
6: Sleepless in Seattle
Sleepless in Seattle is the second movie on this list where the female lead is played by Meg Ryan. The male lead is played by Tom Hanks. Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan would later make another very good romantic comedy together, You’ve got mail.
The movie is about Sam Baldwin who has trouble moving on after his wife dies in cancer. His young son calls in to the radio to find a new girlfriend for his father. Sam is convinced to tell his story and how much he misses his wife on the radio. Something that gets hundreds of women touched by his story to contact him. One of those who answer is Meg Ryan’s character Annie Reed. The film then deals with how these two people slowly fall in love with each other.
Sleepless in Seattle is largely inspired by the movie An Affair to Remember from 1957 and contains several scenes and music that are taken directly from this original.
7: Pretty Woman
Pretty woman is one of the most famous romantic comedies of all time. The film starring Julia Robert and Richard Gere is about how a rich man falls in love with a street prostitute and the difficulties she experiences when trying to move in his world.
This movie started in many ways Julia Robert’s career.
8: Ground Hog Day
Groundhog day is a popular and fun romantic fantasy comedy starring Bill Murray and Andie MacDowell and Chris Elliott in supporting roles. The film is about Phil Connors who gets stuck in a time loop and experiences the same day over and over again. Initially, he exploits this fact to engage in various perversities and tries to commit suicide several times. Later in the film, however, he begins to reevaluate his life and how he lives it. The film is generally regarded as one of the absolute best comedies of all time.
9: 10 Things I Hate About You
10 Things I Hate About You is a romantic comedy that gave rise to a TV series of the same name but other actors. The TV series is based on the film but is not a direct continuation. The film features a host of prominent actors such as Julia Stiles, Heath Ledger and. Joseph Gordon-Levitt. It is based on Shakespeare, so an angry beggar is chastised.
10: The 40-year-old virgin
The 40-year-old virgin is a very popular comedy that started Steve Carell’s career. The film was written and directed by Judd Apatow. The movie is just as you might think of a 40-year-old man’s attempt to have sex for the first time. To his help, he has a group of friends who think it’s time for him to get it. The film contains a wide range of classic scenes such as the scene where Carell is waxed. The movie ends as one might imagine the protagonist finding true love.
